Let the style begin!

First off let’s talk about some designer did you knows. Did you know, Marc Ecko, fashion designer and entrepreneur was the winning bid for Barry Bond’s record breaking 756th home run ball? He held an online poll to see what the fate of the ball should be. After 10 million votes it was decided that the ball would be branded and sent to the Hall of Fame. Did you know, Coco Chanel began her fashion career as a milliner? Did you know, Paul Frank’s first product was a wallet? While enrolled in Orange Coast College the art student created wallets, guitar straps and backpacks for various demographics.

Most Expensive Files:
The most expensive wine was a bottle of 1787 Chateau Lafite for about 160,000 dollars U.S. It is reported that the wine was from the cellar of former US president Thomas Jefferson because the bottle had the initials Th.J etched into the glass bottle.

The most expensive wristwatch was marked the 250th anniversary Swiss watch with a cost of 1.5 million dollars. With only seven made, the watch also hold the title of: most complicated double-face watch.

Happy Birthday Saks Fifth Avenue!

This year Saks is celebrating 85 years of existence. It has developed into an American shopping icon and has been used various times in pop culture such as: Friends TV show, the Simpsons and the 2005 film Shopgirl. In August 17th 2007 the department store in New York City opened its new shoe floor with over 100,000 pairs of footwear accross 100,000 square feet. It was so big that the U.S. Postal Service gave the floor its own zip code: 10022-SHOE.

4. Cardigans Galore..

Here are some tips about cardigans,

- the best version is a cardigan with four buttons and two pockets at the front

- wear it over a light t-shirt or tank top and belt it

- experiment with it!

- use it as a jacket in the fall or the spring to give your outfit a casual look/feel

Wow an entire month :|..I’m not so great at keeping the blog up to date once school starts up!

Since my first entry (ever) was so popular I decided to write another post on body hair; who is clean cut and who needs a little extra work in the hairy department..ick.

Let’s look at the sans hair contestants shall we?

I could not find a better picture with him and his shirt off, not looking two years old and not with that hideous long hair he wears for his hit films ‘Twilight’. Taylor Lautner is a hair-less hottie; enough said.

Really ladies? This is attractive? Hairy and greasy hair. No thanks.

Just look at Luke Wilson here. He looks much better with a shirt on, or better yet, SHAVED.

Nick Zano, Haylie Duff’s boyfriend knows that no hair is the key to a woman’s heart.

No hair and he surfs. Recipe for perfection?

Neiman Marcus opened its doors today in 1907 in Dallas Texas. This retailer sells many man designers and is one of MANY stores that are opening their doors till 11 p.m. tonight for Vogue’s Fashion’s Night Out 2009, in NYC and all over the world!

Tomorrow I am off to my second home (literally) NEW YORK CITY! I am super excited and as a tribute to the wonderful and magical city I have come up with five things you must do when visiting N.Y.C.

Here is goes in no specific order.. (I would never be able to rank these)

1. Skating in Rockefeller Center around the HUGE Christmas Tree.

Not only is it a ton of fun, whether you can skate or not, the scenery with the snow and the lights on the tree it is so breath-taking. This is something that is worth doing with a group of people to make it even more memorable and hit up Starbucks afterwards for some hot beverages.

2. See a play.

There are tons of great plays and musicals and shows that are out on Broadway year round. Wicked is currently one of the best sellers and though I personally have never seen it, critics rave that it is a must see this year. And if it helps, it is “kid friendly”. I love the Radio City Rockettes! The show is called The Radio City Christmas Spectacular and its spectacular to say the least. I’m sorry this is another thing to do at Christmas time but I can’t help it.

3. Why is the city never sleeping? It’s because they are shopping.

This is a given. If you are going to New York City and not shopping you are in the wrong place. There are hundreds probably thousands of places you can shop downtown but my favourite is about an hour outside. The name is Woodbury Common Premium Outlets; get a pen and paper ladies. 498 Red Apple Court, Central Valley, NY Zip: 10917 Tel: (845) 928-4000. Go to their website: http://www.premiumoutlets.com/brands/ for a list of brands avaliable. The list goes on and on!

4. Visit the landmarks

You can do the usual Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty shpeel but the ones that you will remember and that your friends will think are the coolest are the famous landmarks and scenes where famous movies and shows were filmed. Some of them include: Breakfast at Tiffany’s on 5th Avenue, Gossip Girl (all over the place and you can actually get tours to specifically see all the different scenes and shop at Henri Bendel where Blair and Serena shop), and tv show Friends Monica and Rachel’s appartment building (corner of Grove and Bedford in Greenwich Village, see picture).

5. Go to a Museum that interests you!

I love the American Museum of Natural History but there are TONS of other museums in New York for a wide range of interests. Other Museums include: the Met, my all time favourite museum but not in NY..the Smithsonian (including the Doodle 4 Google Challenge, having kids from all over create a Google drawing with the theme being “What I wish to see in the world..”. All 40 regional finalists are displayed in this museum), Children’s Museum of Manhattan and even the Museum of Sex if that’s what you are into. BIKINIS!

1957: Brigitte Bardot wore a bikini in the film And God Created Women. This was the first time a bikini was ever wore in a motion picture and the whole world realized this was a must-have item for women.

1960: Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weenie Yellow Polkadot Bikini the song was released and everyone who did not buy a bikini 3 years ago, are suddenly rushing to the mall to get one.

1962: Ursula Andress wore a white bikini in the James Bond movie Dr. No. and the world is in love.

1964: The monokini (only the bottom of the bikini is worn) is introduced in Europe. Ew.

1983: Carrie Fisher wore the famous gold bikini in the Stars Wars film Return of the Jedi. It is still a fantasy to many men to this day.

2002: Once again a James Bond film debuts a famous bikini scene. Halle Berry wore the orange, belted bikini in Die Another Day and the world is “shaken and stirred”.

WONDERBRA anyone?

The Wonderbra was brought over to the U.S. in 1994 and it is safe to say they arrived in style. In Manhattan, the Wonderbra drove in armoured cars and limos, in Miami they rolled in pink Cadillacs, in San Franisco the bra arrived by private cable car and L.A. they flew in helicopters. Models, police, body and security guards unloaded the boxes (models? yea right.) while thousands of women threw confetti and screamed. They were sold at a rate of one bra every 15 seconds!

I know I can speak for a lot of people when you have watched a movie and went to take a pee-break and missed an important/funny part or a line that  will become famous/an inside joke that you don’t get.. well be confused no more!

This website allows you to see certain times in a variety of new movies to make sure you are missing nothing! Keep in mind the movies shown are mostly in theatres if not just released on DVD rental.

What you do is you click on the movie in which you are going to see, lets take 500 Days of Summer as an example..

Next you will see a timeline at the top of the screen listing 2-3 times during the movie when you may stop and tinkle. When you click on the times it will tell you what is happening (without giving anything away) and roughly how much time you have to pee.

As you can see you can also unscramble the paragraphs underneath to find out what you missed in more detail.
